phytochelatins
Metallothionein-type peptides of plants that bind heavy metals such as cadmium, zinc, lead, mercury and copper. General form is ( g-glutamyl-cysteinyl) n-glycine where n is from 2 - 11. Involved in the detoxification of heavy metals and the homeostasis of non-essential metals.
